Everything about the metal mounting frame
Subjugate
What exactly is the metal mounting frame and what does it serve for?
The metal mounting frame forms the basis of each Livolo switch or wall socket. You can see it as the load -bearing part on which all other parts are built.
This frame is mounted directly on the flush-mounted box and ensures that the Livolo module (such as a switch, socket or dimmer) is firmly and straight in the wall. Once the module is clicked into the frame, simply click the glass cover window on the front of the frame. This ensures a neat, flat finish against the wall.
The confirmation frame performs several important functions:
- It holds the module in place and prevents it from being loose or leaning
- It ensures the right depth in the wall, so that the glass plate is nicely flat
- It makes mounting safe, stable and reliable
- It serves as an assembly point for the cover window with click confirmation
In short, without the confirmation frame, the Livolo module cannot be installed or finished correctly. It is an essential part for a safe and sleek installation.
What is the confirmation frame made of?
The mounting frame is made of high -quality metal and forms the sturdy base of your Livolo switch or socket. Because this frame is the central part on which both the module and the glass cover window are mounted, strength and durability are essential.
In order to protect the frame extra against wear and external influences, it is also provided with a Coated protective layer. This coating prevents rusting and increases the lifespan, even with installation in damp rooms or on irregular surfaces.
Thanks to the metal design:
- The frame is very stable and resistant to mechanical loads
- Your installation will remain safe and reliable for years
- The mounting is made easily and tightly, without distortion or loose parts
Livolo consciously opts for metal instead of plastic to guarantee quality and lifespan. You feel this difference directly with the installation: the frame is sturdy, solid and fits perfectly in every standard built -in box.
Why is this frame necessary when installing?
The metal mounting frame is an indispensable part of the Livolo installation. Without this frame it is not possible to place the module firmly, safe and neatly in the flush -mounted box.
The frame has several essential functions:
- Stability and firmness
The frame ensures that the switch or the socket is attached tightly and straight in the wall. It prevents the module from sitting loose, wobbles or skew over time. - Safe assembly
The frame offers a sturdy mounting basis for the module and prevents the module from becoming too deep or superficially in the flush -mounted box. This is important for both safety and functionality. - Tight finish
The metal frame determines the position at which the glass cover window is clicked. Without the frame, the glass does not connect nicely to the wall and cracks or height differences can occur. - Fixed screw point on the built -in box
The frame contains the screw holes with which the entire module is attached to the flush -mounted box. It is therefore literally the carrying skeleton of the entire switching point. - Universal application
The same frame is used for switches, sockets, media and all other Livolo modules. This makes the system easily modular.
In short, the mounting frame is the backbone of every Livolo installation. It ensures the technical reliability and the sleek visual finish that Livolo is known for. A correct assembly without this frame is not possible.
Is the mounting frame not dangerous in an electrical installation?
No, the metal mounting frame is completely safe and does not form any risk within an electrical installation.
The frame never comes in contact with power -carrying parts at any time. All Livolo modules are designed in such a way that the electrical connections are completely enclosed by a plastic housing, which is not conductive. In addition, the modules are equipped with an IP20 classification, which means that they are touch-safe and offer protection against contact with fingers or other objects.
In addition, the metal frame is completely covered after installation by the hardened glass cover window. This ensures that the frame is not visible or accessible from the outside. Once the installation is completed, the metal mounting frame is completely concealed behind the finish of the switch.
Do I have to use the frame with every type of Livolo switch or socket?
Yes, the use of the metal mounting frame is mandatory and necessary for every Livolo product. Whether you install a single switch, a power outlet or a combination of multiple modules, the mounting frame is always required for correct, safe and stable mounting.
Why this frame is always necessary:
- The frame forms the basis of assembly. The module is clicked in it, after which the whole is screwed firmly into the built -in box.
- It ensures a perfect connection of the glass cover plate. Without the frame it is not possible to place the glass straight and tightly on the wall. Alle
- Livolo products are designed on this system. The dimensions, click mechanisms and finish are tailored to the use of this frame.
Does this also apply to multiple installations?
Yes. For installations with 2, 3 or more modules next to each other, use your own mounting frame per module. These are placed and aligned individually in the built -in boxes, after which one glass cover window is mounted over the entire width.
Can I place two half modules (media) next to each other?
Yes, the confirmation frame is suitable for placing two half modules (media) next to each other.
There is a recess in the middle of each mounting frame in which one full module can be clicked as standard. This recess is also designed to be able to mount two 1/2 modules neatly next to each other, for example a combination of a network connection and a coax or USB module.
The half modules are designed in such a way that they fill the space of one standard module exactly. You don't have to adapt to the frame for this, the modules simply click in the central opening.
When ordering, make sure that you always need a combination of two for half modules to completely fill the frame. Single half modules cannot be mounted separately without extra filling piece or second module.
Different type
Are there different types of mounting frames at Livolo?
Yes, Livolo uses two different types of metal mounting frames:
- Type 1 (the original version)
- Type 2 (The new, improved variant)
Both frames serve as the basis for mounting Livolo switches, dimmers and sockets. They ensure that the module is firmly attached to the flush -mounted box and that the glass cover fits exactly and connects nicely to the wall.
Although the operation remains the same, the two types in design and mounting agent differ.
Livolo is currently working on a gradual transition to type 2 as a new standard. Until then, both types are still used, depending on the product.
You will always receive the correct confirmation frame with the cover window that you order. This way you are assured of correct and stable assembly.
Why are there two different types of mounting frames at Livolo?
Livolo works with two types of mounting frames because the brand is constantly developing and improves its products on the basis of user experience, mounting female and feedback from installers and customers.
Type 1 Is the original model. Type 2 Is the improved successor who is designed to make installing easier and faster. Both types are currently being delivered, depending on the model or the combination that you order.
What is the most important difference between type 1 and type 2?
The biggest difference is in the mounting seal and design:
- Type 1 Has one excellent lip On one side. This lip clicks in the glass cover window and requires you to pay attention to the direction in which you place the frame.
- Type 2 is complete symmetrical. It has no more lip and can be placed in any direction.
Type 2 has been developed to Fast, flawless and symmetrical To be able to assemble even with multiple modules next to each other.
Why are the mounting frames attached to each other in type 2?
For covering windows that are suitable from 2 to 5 modules, the new mounting frames are connected to each other to one sturdy whole.
This allows you to mount the frame in one action on the built -in boxes, which ensures:
- Faster and simple installation
- Better alignment
- Netter final finish
This is an important advantage compared to the type 1 frames, where you have to manually position and secure multiple separate parts.
Why is type 1 still used if type 2 already exists?
The transition from type 1 to type 2 is currently going on. Because there are still many existing products and stock that are designed for type 1, they are still supplied.
Livolo has chosen to gradually use both systems next to each other to guarantee the continuity of deliveries and compatibility.
Does the type 1 mounting frame also fit on new deck windows?
Yes, the type 1 mounting frame is compatible with both older and new covering windows. This frame is still regularly included, because it is flexibly applicable and the transition to type 2 is gradual.
Does the type 2 mounting frame also fit on older covering windows?
No, the type 2 mounting frame is only suitable for the new generation of deck windows. This does not fit on the older models of covering windows. That is why the new mounting frame is always supplied with the new covering windows.
This means you always have the correct assembly frame in your possession.
Assembly of modules
How do I click a module in the confirmation frame?
You can easily click the module from the front in the metal mounting frame. The module is secured by four small lips on the sides, which clamp firmly in the frame.
Please note, determine well in advance how you want to place the module, for example straight or twisted, because as soon as it clicks, it is firmly in place.
Can I still run the module afterwards?
No, once the module is clicked into the frame, it is firmly stuck. If you still want to run the module (for example with vertical placement), you must first remove it and then place it again in the desired position
How do I remove a module from the mounting frame?
To remove a module, you must push it out through the front. Use a fitting screwdriver (small model) for the lips on the module for this.
Press the module continuously forward and carefully push in the four excellent lips on the sides of the module one by one.
After you press the first lip, the module on that side will come loose and you can push that bit forward. Repeat this with the other three lips. Once all the lips are pressed, you can pull the module out of the frame.
With which tools can I loosen the module?
Use a small flat (fitting) screwdriver to gently press the lips on the module. Do this with policy to prevent damage to the module or frame.
Confirmation frame 1.
What does the type 1 mounting frame look like?
The Type 1 mounting frame is a metal frame with a small excellent lip on one side. This lip serves as a click lock for the glass cover window. On the other sides are one or two small hooks that secure the module. The frame is square and contains a recess in the middle where the Livolo module is clicked. You can also recognize this type by the Livolo logo that is pressed into the metal.
See the image below for the visual representation of type 1.
How do I mount the frame with horizontal placement?
With horizontal assembly, the excellent lip must always be at the bottom. At the top there are then automatically the two brackets (left and right) in which you can start the cover window. For example, the glass cover plate fits exactly, because the recess on the back of the glass is at the bottom and falls neatly over the lip.
How do I mount the frame with vertical placement?
With vertical assembly, all excellent lips must be on the same side, so all on the left or all on the right.
Keep the glass cover window in front of the frame and check which side the recess is on the back. Place the lips on the same side. If you do not do this, you cannot click the glass cover window on it.
Why does the lip always have to sit in a specific place?
The lip grabs in a small recess on the back of the cover window and ensures that the glass stays firmly.
If the lip is on the wrong side, the glass does not fit well or even falls loose.
A wrong placement also ensures a skewed or unstable installation, and you naturally want to prevent that.
Can I play a module, such as a power outlet quarter stroke?
Yes, you can turn the module in any position, also a quarter turn.
This gives you the flexibility to place the socket horizontally or vertically, depending on the situation or preference. With a vertical wall mounting you can still straighten the socket, so that plugs connect in a logical way. Even with limited space or a specific cable direction you can turn the module in such a way that the wiring runs neatly to the left or right.
Make sure that you orientate the mounting frame correctly so that the lip connects to the recess of the glass cover window. Always check this before you finally mount everything.
How do I know if the frame is correct before I screw it up?
Very simple:
- Hold the glass cover window for the wall the way you want to mount it.
- Find the small recess on the back of the glass.
- Make sure that the excellent lip of the frame is on the same side.
Only then can you definitively screw the frame into the built -in box.
What happens if I incorrectly mount the frame?
A incorrectly mounted mounting frame can cause multiple problems that adversely affect the operation and finish of your installation.
- The cover does not fit
- The click lock does not work
- The glass does not connect tightly on the wall
- Modules can be skewed or loose
- You must re -assemble the frame
- The touch control will not function
For a neat, safe and stable finish, it is therefore important to always mount the frame in the right direction.
Do the lips always have to be on one side during vertical mounting?
Yes, with vertical assembly, all excellent lips must be placed on the same side, so all on the left or all on the right.
It is important that you do not mount the lips above and under each other, because the glass cover window only has a recess on one side where the lip fits. If the lips come under each other, the cover window will not click well or even do not fit at all.
Therefore, on which side the recess is on the back of the cover, check and place the lips of all frames on the same side for correct and tight assembly.
Does the mounting frame fit on both new and old covering windows?
Yes, the confirmation frame of the current model fits on both the older and the new livolo covering shelves.
This makes the frame flexible, regardless of whether you work with an older installation or a new cover window from our current range.
Please note that the new mounting frame will be supplied with the new generation of covering windows.
In many cases the frame is already supplied as standard, in that case you no longer need the old frame.
This makes sure that all parts fit perfectly together. Do you have multiple deck windows or do you replace individual parts? Then you can combine this confirmation frame without a problem with both versions.
Why do I sometimes have a confirmation frame after installation?
During the transition to the new mounting system (type 2) it is possible that you temporarily get two frames delivered to one product combination. This is because some modules or sets are still automatically supplied with the older mounting frame (type 1), while the new cover window is already equipped with the new type 2 frame.
In that case you do not need the old frame and you can use the supplied type 2 frame immediately.
The type 1 frame then remains, this is not a mistake, but a consequence of the transition phase. You can possibly keep it as a reserve.
Confirmation frame 2.
What does the Type 2 mounting frame look like?
The Type 2 mounting frame is the newest version and has a fully symmetrical design without excellent lips. There are mounting hooks on all four sides, so that the frame can be placed in any direction. Type 2 is often supplied linked with multiple deck windows, with connecting slips between the frames. This frame also has a central recess in which the module clicks, and the Livolo logo is visible at the front.
How do I mount the frame with horizontal placement?
With horizontal placement you can easily place the frame in the desired position. The mounting frame is completely symmetrical, so there is no fixed top or bottom.
Place the frame with the front forward (recognizable by the Livolo logo and the inward-bent module holder), and line the frame horizontally in the built-in box.
Attach the frame with the sunken M3 screws in the trench holes. Make sure that the frame is completely flat and level, especially with multiple installations, so that the glass cover window later connects seamlessly.
How do I mount the frame with vertical placement?
Even with vertical assembly you do not have to take into account an upper or bottom, because all sides of the frame are the same.
You place the frame with the right side forward, click the module (s) in it and attach the frame with the standard screws in the slot holes of the built -in box.
With several vertical modules one above the other it is important that the frames are placed tightly and straight under each other. This keeps the glass plate fit well and there is no crack or crooked finish.
Do I have to pay attention to something when assembled?
Yes, pay attention to the following points for a correct and neat installation:
- Make sure that the front of the frame is aimed forward (Livolo logo visible, module holder bent inwards).
- Use only sunken M3 screws to secure the frame. Other screws can block the clock window.
- Mount multiple frames completely tightly against each other - there should be no space in between.
- For more than one frame, use a spirit level to keep everything nice and right.
- With sets from 2 to 5 modules, the frame is supplied pre -linked, so that you are assured of a perfect alignment.
Thanks to the smart design of the confirmation frame, the installation is faster, flawlessly and with a tight end result.
Is type 2 an improved version of the mounting frame?
Type 2 is designed as a more user -friendly alternative. Type 2 is more practical for installers and do-it-yourselfers:
- No chance of incorrect direction
- Faster assembly
- Less chance of skewed modules
- Protected in advance with multiple frames (2 to 5 modules)
Yet type 1 also works excellently if it is mounted correctly, the differences are also minimal.
Why are type 2 mounting frames already linked?
With type 2, the frames for multiple modules (eg 2, 3, 4 or 5 next to each other) are supplied pre -linked. This ensures that:
- All modules are perfectly straight next to each other
- No cracks arise between the mounting frames
- You have less jug on errors during assembly
Do you still want to use them separately? Then you can easily release the metal connection slanten with a small cross -head screwdriver.
Will type 2 completely replace type 1 in the future?
Yes, that is the goal. We are working on a gradual transition in which type 2 ultimately becomes the new standard mounting system with all the switching material.
Until then, it is possible that you will still receive type 1 with certain cover windows or module combinations. But regardless of the type, you always get the right frame that fits your product.
When will I receive a type 2 mounting frame?
You will receive a type 2 confirmation frame at:
- New models of covering windows
- Cover windows that are specifically designed for use with the new type 2 frame.
These cover windows are always supplied with the matching type 2 frame, because other frames do not fit on it.
Do I get a mounting frame included with a new type of cover window?
Yes, the correct mounting frame is supplied with every new type of cover window.
Even if this is sometimes not explicitly mentioned on the website, you don't have to worry about that. When you receive a new cover window that works with the type 2 mounting system, we ensure that the matching mounting frame is always supplied automatically.
The frame is packed in the same box as the cover window and is therefore immediately ready for installation. You don't have to order or indicate anything extra for this during your order. This way you are always assured of correct and trouble -free assembly.
Why does it say that there is no frame at the cover window?
The covering windows are normally ordered directly with the modules. In that case we package the mounting frames in the box of the covering windows.
If you do not order a cover window, but only modules, you will receive the metal mounting frame separately.
The report is intended to prevent you from expecting the frame loose at the cover window Sit, while it is supplied via the module, packed at the cover window or separately, depending on your order.
Do I have to order the frame separately?
No, you don't have to do anything extra. The frame is automatically included in the cover window when needed.
Where is the confirmation frame packed?
The mounting frame is always in the packaging of the cover frame itself. The frame is neatly integrated there, apart from the cover itself.
So you do not have to search or assemble it separately before you start, as soon as you remove the cover from the package, you will immediately see that the correct metal mounting frame has already been included.
What included
Do I always get a confirmation frame with my order?
That depends on what exactly you order. Below we clearly explain how the delivery of confirmation frames at Livolo works, so that you know exactly where you stand.
1. You order a separate module (for example a switch or socket)
With a separate module we always deliver a mounting frame as standard. This is currently still the type 1 frame, because this mounting frame is compatible with both the older and the new covering windows.
You don't have to do anything extra for this, the frame is automatically supplied in the package.
2. You only order a cover (without module)
In principle, we do not deliver a mounting frame with a loose cover window.
However, when you receive a new type of cover window, the corresponding type 2 mounting frame is already in the packaging of the cover frame itself.
You cannot see in advance whether you will receive an old or new type of cover window. If there is a mounting frame in the packaging of the cover, you know that you have received the new type of cover window.
If you have only ordered individual modules for this in this case, you will also receive a confirmation frame with (type 1). This means that you may have one frame left, because the new frame is also included in the packaging of the cover window.
You then have the extra confirmation frame and you can possibly save it as a spare.
3. You order a complete set (module + cover frame):
If you order a full set, the individual modules are placed on the correct cover frame boxes in our expedition.
It is checked which type of cover window you have ordered:
- In older covering windows we add loose mounting frames (type 1)
- This is not necessary with new cover windows, because the type 2 frame is already in the cover frame packaging
In that case you will not receive an extra frame, because the set is already complete.
